RSA200 Talk Series: A personal look back at James Shearer RSA

A personal look at our architect James Shearer RSA to complement the Carnegie Travelling Scholarship to the RSA exhibition.

The museum is currently showing an exhibition with the Royal Scottish Academy called A Celebration of the Carnegie Travelling Scholarship.

To accompany having an art exhibition in the hall, the museum is delivering a programme of talks, digital viewings and a new school workshop, to encourage as many people as possible to explore the exhibition and find a personal connection with the works.

Our first talk will be on the 30th of April, 7:30pm, about James Shearer RSA, architect of the Museum’s Memorial Hall, the Fire Station Creative and an extension of the Dunfermline Carnegie Library & Galleries.

All three of these buildings are hosting exhibitions to celebrate the RSA’s 200th birthday. We think it will be a brilliant starting point to hear about an architect who has shaped our city’s landscape. Ian Shearer, a descendant of James Shearer will lead the talk sharing a personal view of this industrious man.
