Carnegie and the Royal Scottish Academy
A Celebration of the Carnegie Travelling Scholarship
23 March - 13 December 2026
Free Admission
This exhibition celebrates the wide ranging impact of the Royal Scottish Academy’s Carnegie Travelling Scholarship as part of RSA 200: Celebrating Together.
Founded in 1903, the Carnegie Travelling Scholarship was awarded to promising members of the RSA’s Life School to support their travels to study the “great art collections on the continent of Europe, United states or elsewhere”. The scholarship is still awarded today.
From the founding of the scholarship to the present day, the exhibition will showcase works from renowned Scottish artists such as Joan Eardley and Elizabeth Blackadder, some of which will be on display for the first time.
The exhibition will be complimented by a programme of events and activities throughout the duration of the exhibition.
