Education
School parties and students of all ages are very welcome at the Carnegie Birthplace where staff and volunteer guides conduct free guided tours (approx. 1hour 30mins) which can be tailored to individual group requirements.

A free Victorian package is on offer to Primary school pupils. They are dressed in Victorian costume and see life in Victorian Dunfermline through the eyes of young Andrew Carnegie.

With new interpretation and audio presentations the Birthplace Cottage charts Carnegie’s youth in Dunfermline and the impact of the linen factories and steam-powered looms on Dunfermline’s handloom weaving industry.

The Main Exhibition Hall follows Carnegie’s working career in America from cotton factory bobbin boy, telegraph operator and railroad developer to Steel King of America. Interactive touch screen displays add another dimension to the interpretation of the amazing Carnegie story and demonstrate the full extent of his global philanthropy.

Learning For All
Through a programme of temporary exhibitions, lectures and debates integral to its Learning and Access policy, the Museum aims 'to inspire learning in people of all ages' as expressed in its mission statement: 'To document, preserve and conserve the collections and buildings of the museum; to demonstrate commitment to access, diversity and inclusion by providing a service which meets professional museum and tourism standards; to promote and raise the profile of the museum and the manifold activities of Andrew Carnegie in the sphere of business and philanthropy; to inspire learning in people of all ages.'
